I think its great and am excitied but I will not be buying the first model. I believe they are making a mistake and rushing it instead of taking the time to make the phone right from the start, no camera, no wifi, no bluetooth??? those are pretty standard things now and not to have them will turn off alot of potential buyers. I know they say they will include many things in future models but i feel its better to jump in the water rather than just get your feet wet. Maybe I am just picky but the first model to me would just not compete with what I already have even if it is completely open. When creating something new you not only have the advantage to learn from peoples mistake but thier successes too. They have alot of work to do and I know they are pressed for time to get any working model out. They know that an open source linux phone would put pressure on others as well as secure thier place in the industry. If only they would add what is standard on most phones, camera, bt, wifi, learn from simple mistakes(cough motorola 750mah battery??) they would instantly not only secure thier place but dominate the linux cellphone market.
On a side note, I did find it amusing to go to the fic website and on the upper right hand corner read "FIC recommends windows xp (R)".
Just some thoughts
It's only a phone if you want it to be
no wifi
no camera
but bluetooth is there:
