    Default Whats your job?

Hi everyone. I'm interested in the field of work of everyone in here who are reading these forums, interested in linux embedded OS on handphones.

    May you state your job/profession?

And in detail, if possible, like your age, years in that line, and the country you are from.

To start off with, I have no job now, because I have to give 2 years of my time serving National Service, which is the military.

Does anyone own a handphone shop or works in one?

Haha me too. 1 more year of this blasted liability to this country. Hate my camp, hate the officers, hate the food, hate the staying in, hate the stinking toilets, hate the "pay", hate being talked too like I'm sub-human, and of course I hate not having my laptop around. Thats why I bought the E680, keeps me sane even if I'm connected to the internet only through a tiny screen.

Before that I was a freelance programmer while studying in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. I've been programming since I was 11 and been a fan of linux since I was 15 (I'm going to be 21 soon). This is my first time touching linux on non-x86 hardware though, and the experience is very refreshing.

Which unit are you in, BTW?

i m just a english and computer(database/data entry) student who lives in new zealand until next year..
using linux since 1 1/2 year on the computer, cause NO money for windows and its expensive programs, also i not want have and use just illiegal software on my computer and no viruses/worms and that shi***. i use windows on VmWare sometimes if i really need it(.rm video converting).

i bought the e680 cause on that time no other phone was as good as this linux phone and i really need a new one after 2 1/2 years nokia 7650 that batteries wasnt good anymore. also i not need an mp3 player, a portable Video-player, a dictionary, game console and more, the e680 got it all.

i m lucky, i mustnt go to the military in switzerland thanks to my doctor at that time.

in the "parallel import "shop in new zeland we can find and buy the A780 or e680i for really good price(for NZ), but i m not working there...

I'm a sysadmin at a university library. Changed unit last week, don't have to stand those windowsservers no more, now it's all linux..
Got a masters in computer science, wrote a thesis on model checking and formal methods.
Loves programming, but got little time for it nowadays.. got engaged some while ago, got this new job, and started kickboxing.. Oh my..

I did some military service six years ago, actuall got to play with computers, setting up networks and such.. not to bad sometimes.

Seems like I will be the oldest here

I'm 32, A Unix System Admin for the pass 5 years. Location: Singapore
Got a degree in Computer Science, but what I did now is totally not related to my studies. I did software engineering, ie. lotsa programming and system design, Yucks!! turn me into a zombie while reading those code.

And I also have the same thinking that most of you have during the NS time. Itss SUCKS! isn't it?

But ony after you have come out to work in the society, you will then realise that you will appreicate NS, because its turn a Boy into a Man.

believe me or not, you will find out after you have work for 1 year or so.
