    i guess you can't do that...operating system ussually related to hardware too...A1000 was designed by Motorola using Symbian UIQ, not linux...maybe to change that you must ask with Motorola Developer...
    i use:
    Machine: Reference platform
    RAM: 32MB
    Version: REL 62.30.00J
    Baseband: M1000_U_36.19.14P
    Flex: SA1860A013
    AP Config: SA1860A_T673RG_026

    now using iPhone 3G 16gb...

    There are two versions - full and Lite
    Full - all CG (code groups) included
    Lite - only 2 groups included (CG11 and CG14) - after flashing
    You wont lose data on C.

    Changelist:

    Ability to change the icons in:
    c:\system\data\QSBMsg.mbm.................-Sms/mail icon
    c:\system\data\QSBVK.mbm..................-keyboard icon
    c:\system\data\QSBLocation.mbm............-GPS icon
    c:\system\data\qsbnetworksignallevel.mbm..-network icon
    c:\system\data\qsbtelephony.mbm...........-call icon
    c:\system\data\QSBAlertMode.mbm...........-sound icon
    c:\system\data\QSBBattery.mbm.............-battery icon
    c:\system\data\qsbbluetooth.mbm...........-bluetooth icon

    * those files can be changed in c:\system\data
    - Btconfig.mbm
    - Btuinotifier.mbm
    - SystemLogo.mbm
    - QMmsView.mbm
    - muiu.mbm
    - editq.mbm
    - ImedQ.mbm
    - BioViewerQ.mbm
    - sipushmtmui.mbm;
    - QMmsPlayer.mbm
    - qobexlistener.mbm
    - EikMisc.mbm
    - Pclink.mbm.

    * Possibility of changeing:
    C:\system\data\logos\oplogo.bmp.....-operator logo
    C:\system\apps\phone\default.mbm....- default phone skin
    C:\SYSTEM\APPS\PHONE\const.mbm......- animation when calling

    * Possibility of changeing sounds:

    * Top background changed

    * possibility of change c:\system\programs\qsplash.mbm - Startup animation.

    include IlearPack.sis include: bottom icons (Ilear Icon Pack) and color schemes (Ilear Color Pack).

    advantages:
    - De-brands the phone and gets rid of all the '3' nonsense (mms, sms settings etc can of course be re-entered post-flash)

    - Makes the phone run MUCH faster - starts up quicker (even if you choose not to disable the startup vids), loads programs quicker, less slowdown when multitasking etc

    - Improves program compatability. Many programs that wouldn't work before (like AvantGo) now work flawlessly. Less buggy, fewer errors and crashes in the programs that did work before

    - No need to set phone to 1900Mhz/Aeroplane mode to connect to the 'real' internet via bluetooth/desktop cradle. Can now simply 'disconnect' from within the browser and surf away. Ditto for IM, updating internet weather/news in AvantGo, WorldMate, etc. If it can't get it via the network, it'll give up and try bluetooth instead

    - Bluetooth communication in general seems quicker and more stable

    - Nicer icons and background at top of screen

    - Ability to change bottom icons, also various other bits 'n' bobs - sounds, videos, graphics etc - to truly customise the phone

    - Typing on the keyboard and handwriting recognition are notably speedier. There is no delay between button presses/screen taps in general, i.e. no more waiting for the phone to 'catch up'
