Modding V8 Linux Distro

This is a remastered Linux distro based on PCLinuxOS 2007. Squashfs was already supported, but I have changed the "mksquashfs" tool to version 2.1, which is essential to repack CG's and I also added SBF Recalc 1.2.8 and Flexbit-Editor, both from Meiner Einer (faq4mobiles.de). This PCLinuxOS is well and truely a Motorola RAZR2 V8 Edition
You can run it as a Live CD, meaning it will not install anything on your harddrive, but it will be much slower running from CD because there is about 2 GB of software cramped into this 700 MB CD.
But if you like what you see, you have the option to install it on your PC (link is on Desktop), which would mean it will run much quicker from harddrive.
Now a couple of important points:
There are 2 login accounts
user with password "user" and
root with password "root"
The root account has full admin rights, which is OK as long as you know what you are doing, the user account has limited rights which is good when connected to the internet and you can not mess up any system files!
When you boot your PC from the CD the screen resolution is set to 1024x768 @ 60Hz (default), which does make the windows of SBF ReCalc and Flexbit-Editor a little bit too big, they are not resizable! I use 1280x1024 on my LCD monitor and then they look perfect.
To change screen resolution you have to open the "xorg.conf" file in /etc/X11. Right click on that file and choose "openwith..." and then select Kwrite.

Here you have to enter the Horizontal Sync rate and the Horizontal refresher rate of your monitor, the above values are from my monitor!

Here you have to add "1280x1024" in front of all the other screen resolutions cos the first one is the default one. Above you can see where it should go, if the "DefaultColorDepth" in the header has 16 then you have to add the "1280x1024" in the Subsection "Display" for the Depth of 16. In the above example the colour depth is 24 bit.
Now save and press Crtl+Alt+Backspace to restart the X-server with the 1280x1024 screen resolution, don't worry if find yourself at the login prompt again, that is normal.s.
Even if you screw up the installed system you always have the LiveCD and you can install it again and again.
You have to download the PCLinuxOS-V8.iso image and burn it to an empty 700 MB CD using your prefered CD-Writing software and when that is finished reboot your PC (with the CD in the CD-ROM) and depending on the setup of your PC boot from CD, you might have to go into the BIOS in order to change the boot up sequence.
Then once the Live CD starts to boot just follow the instructions, like your keyboard layout, timezone etc. If you want to have Internet connection you might need some additional information, like IP address of your PC, gateway IP address if you have a network with a router and the IP address of at least one DNS server (you can get that from your ISP provider!) or you can just press "cancel" and you will have no Internet connection.
If you want to install onto harddrive you can read the Installation Help which is also on the desktop. Also during the installation any Windows installation will be detected and added into the boot menu, so that when you start your PC you have a choice if you want to start Windows or PCLinuxOS (default after 20 seconds).
I have set it so that you boot into KDE, which I think is the easiest of desktop managers if you only have known Windows.
I tried quite number of Linux distros, Live and installed versions, but this one seems to be the esiest for newcomers to Linux.
