actually, I hate to hear this..
the developer won't wrong ^^
V9 is linux too
I read a zillion press releases before the razr2 shipped that basically said:
v8 = linux + java (JUIX), mostly audio, edge (not 3G), not expandable, snappy and new GUI
v9/v9m = motorola synergy OS, "media monster", video, expandable memory, 3G, sluggish/traditional razr gui.
I've been waiting for the v8 to ship with t-mobile, and ideally wide availability of the 2GB storage model.
Now, more recently the v9/v9m are showing up at several providers I noticed more and more references to linux on the v9.
Including: http://developer.motorola.com/produc...s/motorazr2v9/
It also is listed if you search handsets, select operating system, and then specify Linux.
So, is the v9 a better linux phone then the v8? (expandable, 3G, GPS) at the cost of being slightly thicker?
Is the v9 JUIX?
Is motorola just totally confused? (BTW, I'd post this to a v9 forum if I could find one.).
Part of this has been prompted by AT&T offering the v9 before t-mobile offers the v8.

I don't think that the V9 is a linux phone.
If you have a look at the spec sheets, V9 spec sheet says "Motorola" where V8 spec sheet says "Linux".
Guess there was a misunderstanding between some different departments at Motorola or something like that.
But this page says V9 is Linux.. and it is developer page:

Operating System
Linux
Yes, I know, but the MOTORAZR2 V9 Specifications Sheet the website you mentionned links to says it's Motorola OS.
I personally don't believe it runs Linux, as it would be Motorolas first 3G handset to do so. Nevertheless I would like a Linux-V9, no question about that.
V9 and P2kcommander(win32) and p2k-core(Linux/OSX) works fine,
so p2k interface used in V9

The P2K and P2K05 system used in Motorola phones are also called Synergy OS, which is developed (more or less) by Motorola, hence Motorola OS.
The V8 and Z6 on the other hand also use a Motorola developed OS, but based on Linux and Java, but it is a different OS platform compared to E6 and A1200 hence the new name MOTOMAGX OS.
Nothing is impossible, only miracles take a bit longer !
240x320 skins are for everyone, but I am not!
hahahaha...
thanks for explanation
i've just bought v8 and wont regret it
Yes, V9 is new version of Synergy. V8 and Z6 are the first phones to use the LJ platform. It uses linux kernal 2.6 while other phones in the past A1200, and E6 uses 2.4 if i remember correctly.

I have been back and forth on getting the V8 or the V9. Because I am with AT&T the V9 appealed to me and the removeable sd card did as well. I same it and play with it when it first came into the local store. (BTW, they are yet to display it because they are afraid it will hurt their iPhone sales.) It was nice. But after using both the Z6 and the Z8 (I am selling both) I like the LJ platform sooo much better. I have a V8 coming. I purchased it on Ebay, but from the seller I get an ambigious answer whether it has 2gb of internal memory or not. I am not that concerned. The amount of songs and games I put on my phone are minimial.
What is you overall opinion of the V8? Why do like it or dislike it?
Thanks!!
PS Alpha, as you can see I gave up on the V8. It was way to complicate to manuever around for me. I have it on Ebay. I sold the Z6 already for $25 more than I paid for it. Go figure!
