Research in Motion and Verizon Wireless may have to put a squeeze on people with access to the latest firmware. A software update for the BlackBerry Storm 9530, currently known as v4.7.0.83, has been leaked on the Internet.

Some owners who have been brave enough to pull the leaked firmware and add it to their Storm have reported an increase in speed, and users of crackberry.com have been posting messages about successful downloads.

It's not clear if the leaked firmware will be officially released in the future or if it's just part of a larger update. RIM will not comment on rumors or speculation, according to Marisa Conway, a spokesperson for RIM.
