With the recent launch of the G1 by T-mobile (at least that's what it's being called in U.S. commercials), a number of articles have noted that the form factor is kind of lacking.
Un-confirmed rumor has the design team at T-mobile penning the G1's design using HTC phones as a template, and leaving the HTC design team pretty much out of the proccess. Somewhere along the line they got it wrong.... The G1 seems to me to be a clunky, LOW-end, early design that HTC discarded early on.
As for the user interface, some "standard" HTC features have been strangely left out such as the lack of an "on-screen" keyboard for texting etc.
I for one, expected the new phone by a cutting edge company such as google to be designed in conjunction with HTC to produce the "Next generation" iphone killer such as the image below.
Maybe we'll all be impressed with G1 2.0, or maybe the G1 will be looked at as "just another footnote" in the smart phone wars..
