If its true, then there's gonna be a real mobile war!!!
Hope they will bank on Linux this time too (wasn't a bit impressed when MotoQ ran Windows)
And please Motorola, no tie-in's to a single provider, let it all be GSM.
Fingers crossed!!![]()
Motorola Leaks 2008 Phones
Motorola had a presentation in Amsterdam, showing-off it’s new phone line-up for Christmas. However the new display of the new line-up for this year was not enough to excite the public, so Motorola decided to reveal their new mobile phone strategy and even provided a glimpse into it’s new handsets that should be released next year.
In the strategy field, Motorola will now be will now be marketing mobile phones in 4 distinct categories - ROKR line for the music focused phones, ZOOM line for the camera phones, RAZR’s will feature all the new multimedia handsets and Multi Q line will be reserved for a business oriented phones.
But the coolest part of today’s revelations was the glimpse into the new Motorola handsets coming out next year.
The most interesting among them is ZOOM series Motorola Skarven phone that will have 8 megapixel camera with optical zoom, big 2.8″ 16 million color display and “banana slider” form factor, similar to Motorola Z10. The rumors about really advanced an powerful new Motorola phone have been floating around the net for a while now, and if Motorola Scarven was the source for them , it should also have VGA (640×480 px) display, WI-Fi connectivity and GPS.
Motorola X Pixl is another ZOOM series camera phone, which is the first and long awaited result of Motorola/Kodak partnership formed in the beginning of 2006. X Pixl will be the first 5 mpx phone by Motorola to compete with the likes of Nokia N95, Samsung G600 and Samsung G800 as well as Sony Ericsson K850i Cybershot. It will probably launch as Motorola Z12 in the beginning of next year.
Motorola Texl candybar music phone will be launched under the ROKR line and will have the same touch surface/keyboard with shifting numbers/letters and keys that MOTO ROKR E8 has. From what we could see from the blurry picture, it actually looks very similar to ROKR E8 and to warrant a new release in Q1 next year it should sport at least some new specs. So I’ll venture a guess of what they might be:
Texl will be upgrade similar to RIZR Z8 -> Z10 and will be released as Motorola ROKR E10 3G music phone with 3.2 megapixel camera.
Motorola Genghis is a Multi Q line full QWERTY phone, that will be an upgrade to Motorola Q9 business messenger line and just like current Q9s will come in different colors.

Yeah its true,
The touch screen 8Mpx phone runs on Symbian its 3G with GPS-confirmed
The X-Pixl is also Symbian, 3G
The Genghis is the Q10 most probably, Windows mobile and GPS confirmed
The Texel is the same as the E8 and runs LJ
the rumored E7 in the net = Skarven with 8Mb cam?
i want linux on that one! but symbian is also ok..
Motorola e680 (flashed to e680i) + 4Gb SD card + HT820 Stereo BT Hedphones,
Ubuntu 6.10 + 7.04,
Nokia N95 + 8Gb microSD
Word on the street, apparently from some upper level moto employees, is that these are all farce. Not even one of them is real. That's just what I've read.
I'm so cool, I had the E6 before the E2 launched! Wait. Never mind...
We'll I got word that they're all real, but its not 8Mpx. BoyGenius is wrong this time mate

... but I want E7Originally Posted by chlettn

Motorola is reducing their Linux support and transitioning to UIQ (since they know own 50% of UIQ, it makes sense, huh?)Well Eomer did say they should shy away from Linux until they iron out all the kinks
There will be a 3G QWERTY entry-level smartphone that runs Windows Mobile 6, it might possibly be called the Q10, and it will have a touch screen. The first for a Motorola Windows Mobile device, not counting the ill-fated MPx. MPx = the best form factor of that time, even if limited availability
One of Motorola’s more high-end phones will feature an NVIDIA chip processor for smooth 3D gaming and video playback. This processor will be superior to the Nokia N95’s ARM 11 processor. This device is said to be their flagship ‘08 model
The ELBA device, well, it’s 3G running UIQ, has a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera, and that oh-so-cool-but-possibly-crap morphing keyboard. In addition, there is a new version of ELBA which is codenamed KEYWEST. That device uses the updated MOTOMAGX platform of 7.3, compared to the RAZR 2 that runs 6.2.Isnt ELBA the E8 anyway?
There’s a touch-screen slider in the works with a 5 megapixel autofocus camera, GPS, 16 million color screen with a 320*240 size which is rumored to be 2.8 inches, running UIQ 4.0 — this is the Nokia N95 competitor, people! We’re told to expect an announcement on or before 3GSM and a June ‘08 release.Skarven? Who cares, if it is, its my next phone
To recap: there will be 9 UIQ devices next year from Motorola, 2 of them with 5 megapixel cameras, and the remaining 7 with 3.2 megapixel cameras.
The first 3G-packing MOTOMAGX phone might be the KEYWEST device mentioned above. It looks like Moto has their hands full…
