Default THEME COMPETITION -- Is it a good idea???

As per subject, is it a good idea to start a theme competition?

Maybe open a competition period, and after themes submitted, start a poll to decide which theme wins?

Prizes can be in the form of money or goods (HT820, 2-gig card, spare battery, etc.)

What do you think? Share your 2 cents, please.

Judging would be the most difficult part, personally I would not enter a theme in a competition simply because I make a theme for myself or for fun to pass time. Anyone can really make a theme, even a beautiful theme, but is it origional, how big is it, how many changes are done, etc, would be tough to judge I think
It's only a phone if you want it to be

polling will be just fine. cuz in my opinion, no matter what is the best, acctually the best thing is what ppl like the most.

also, Inijohan i will like to include that
    1. one person can submit as many themes as he wants
    2. one shall do a theme himself/herself. a reported cheating will be out of competition but theme will stay to be shared
    3. not more than one position a person can win. which means only one theme for a person can win a position for him.
    4. keep only one top position for prize giving until more than 8 contestants r around. above 8, we can have top 3.

alll these r just my views. rest is upon decision makers.

Dunno if this appeals to all you guys...but lets make it a bit more competitive...here's what I recommend..

    > Build theme from scratch. No using any other theme as base theme.

Will put in a couple of more points if any crop up...

building theme from scratch is very pain. how much of time did you need to create 200-300 icon. I think all of theme that we use got resource from another themes or icons from windows or linux themes.

i agree with eakrin. taking icons from somewhere is not bad at all, it only adds upto the beauty.
real artistic skill is shown by how one uses the available resources or how attractive an idea one can present.

Yeah, using some items from other themes is fine. However, theme creator MUST state in his/her submission that this and that items of the theme are taken from/based on X and/or Y themes.

Ppl then can see from this remark, how "original" the theme is.
