    Default Help Needed

    Hello Everyone,
This is no secret that motorola has douched us up with a laggy n not upto the mark update and as we see no sign of any further updates for our milestone.I was thinking that it's time that I switch to custom roms..after doing a bit research on how to do it..I am through with rooting my phone, and now m thinking of going to next step i.e. installing the custom ROM..I need some help -
1)Is there a way to back up the current ROM (i.e. Default ROM) ??
2)Any software or trick that can backup all the contacts ,settings and everything to the sd card...
3)I have read at many places that after you install some ROMS you can't connect to the service provider so you have to take back up of baseband and things like that??how to do that??
4)Please can you suggest some good ROMS that are fast, stable and bug free??
Give your ratings on the ROMS by telling -
    Name of the ROM-
    Speed-
    Stability-
    User Interface-
    BUGs found-
    Positive points-

Looking forward for help from everyone ..
