HOWTO: Disable OTA with or without root!

Here is the way to disable OTA... PLEASE PUT PHONE INTO AIRPLANE MODE FOR THIS TO MAKE SURE YOUR NOT INTERRUPTED TO MAKE ANY MISTAKES AS CAN BRICK PHONE

/$ adb shell
$ su
# mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
# cd /etc/security/
# mv otacerts.zip otacerts.zip.bak
# exit
$ exit
/$ adb pull /etc/security/otacerts.zip.bak /existing/dir/path/on/your/local/machine/for/backup

Menu, Settings, Wireless and networks, Airplane mode.

Turns off all external communications, including 1x, 3G/EVDO, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, Sync, and of course, OTA, so no you won't receive OTA updates, but you also will not receive phone calls, text/pix/flix/voice messages... A reasonable tradeoff for when they start sending out an update that fixes this hole.

Hi the second line of this code says 'su ' that means Super User , witch inother words means this ill onlu work with Super User access ( i.e root accesss) .

yeah it means super user
