++How to create transparent icon?++

I'am beginner in graphic editting and want to creat a new theme.
problem is when i create new theme finished and install on phone.

i found that icon is not transparent icon( icon is not real shape, it's on the background box)

So anybody can tell me how to make it transparent, what tool or grahic editor i need.

You can use e.g. GIMP (www.gimp.org). Create a new image, specify size and transparent Background. When saving as gif or png transparancy will be saved.
