hey! skin makers please help me

can you tell me i have this icon and i have to put it as a GNB icon and there is a background, how should i pit it on the background as icon has a white background, when i put it on the image it comes with the white background and it looks very bad.

and can any one tell me how can i make am icon background transparent, (icons which have shadows).

plz guyz reply, i have finished with all other icons for my theme and just i have no idea how to create GNB icon whith background
