    Unhappy Compiling a Skn file.

    I am having trouble with my skin development. The iconres.ezx file works fine. the problem i am having is with the skn file.

    for some reason my computer will not properly compile the .skn file using Eakrins perl script. are there any instructions im missing?

    The end result is that whatever is compiled just bricks my phone. it cannot be a memory issue as my skn file is only 19kb. any other skn file works fine with my theme (by that i mean i use the iconres file + another skn)

    any help would be appriciated

    Skins are very tricky if you move one or size something the wrong way,you will keep filling you memory. You should use a default skin an make edits from there keep it all in the same place dont move stuff around make sure its all clean when your done no lines or spots on the transparent part keep it CLEAN this is key.

    One more tip:
    Never use paint to save the .skn file

    Thanks. tho as i mentioned. it is not an issue of my skn file is too large and bricks the phone.. it is an issue that the skn file isnt properly compiling..

    I'm going to fine tooth my skn file to make sure there are no artifacts on the alpha portions

    Thanks Konig, but I dont use MsPaint. its a joke to image development =]. I use Adobe Fireworks CS3 with Alien Skin Filters

    Hmm well this is strange.

    I looked into seeing if there were any artifacts in the transparency area of my skn file, and there were! The problem tho was they appeared there at the time of decompiling it from the original file. i erased them and tried again but to no avail.

    my next question is. Are there two other files that must be compiled into the skn file? including a header and block.txt file?

    Yes what you should always do when starting a new skin is use a default skin to start with as its a good template,an everything that comes inside a skin when you extract it should go back in with your new skin. If you dont have those parts inside then thats what your problem is.

    well i solved my issue.. i decompiled the skn file of an original skin 3 different times.. each time the skins folder contained different information.. once i just got a header file.. another time i just got the header and skn.png image and then the third time i got that along with a notes and block file. so i used the one with the most info and got it working properly!

    Is there any way to change the size of say the Call_Keypad_KeyBk_A icon? so it will change size when u touch it...

    It could be done but i dont reccomend doing this unless you know 100% what your doing,it cant be 2 small an if you do it wrong an install it you could end up having to flash your phone so be very careful.
