help and advice on how to make a new E6 skin

im reading all these guides to figure out what to do, but its all a little confusing. i want to make my own skin/theme etc for my E6. could some clarify for me what tools i need to go about doing this in terms of making /editing /loading.

Tools? only editor for pics, some unix tex editor and packing scrits

ok so the rest is relevant besides number 7. essentially, as this would be my frist attempt at e6 skinning, id prob edit one of the existing skins that i have.

In my travels of modding skins for my E6 i've come to realize that using one of the OEM skins is key to making your skin look good. I'm not saying to base your icons and images on the skin, but rather to pay attention to the dimentions of the canvas, not just the image. For example: The icons for the ringstyles are supposed to be 48x30, however some artists don't make them that dimention, instead they make them 32x32 or what have you. The point is to pay attention to your canvas size Also, there are several icons that are named differently in the E6 from the A1200, so becareful there too. Good luck to you sir! I will hopefully have a skin out before the end of this year. (I'm a perfectionist, so it will take some time)

icons should have proper dimensions.. its pain staking thing but worth it...

ok u make the .pskn file/iconrez.ezx and .skn file and put it all in too one folder i got that. what about the .lin of it? how do u make that?

if one uses Eakrin's Skin installer, the lin is not necessary.
