srry for the noob question but what u mean by shell/console?
here a bit oldschool of an example how to do record any video-streams from pages to your comuter or phone mem.
that should be installed on your linux system:
1. Firefox with the mPlayer plugin (may other browsers are working too)
2. mPlayer
3. Shell/Console
just when you click on a stream video-clip in the browser the mPlayer plugin will show the videoclip then you only have to use the right mousebutton and go to "copy URL". Open the console and type:
mplayer -dumpstream
and insert the stream link from the browser into the console and just push "enter".
mplayer -dumpstream http://www.shakaponk.com/0-MOVEE/fonkme3.mov
The file will save as "stream.dump" in /root. when the sream its finish then rename it to the videostream's name and watch it, or convert and copy it to the phone.
it will work with avi, mpg, wmv, mov, rm, asf and nearly sure that will work aslo with music streams.
example: many music videos from this page can be downladed on the above example.
