Thread: Lets Golf

    Talking Lets Golf

Gameloft's Let’s Golf takes the opposite view however, with low barriers to entry that will doubtless entertain a vast majority of players, although it isn’t able to cater for the more discerning golfer.

    Swingers

In terms of control, it uses the traditional three-click approach to making your shot. The first press of the ‘5’ key starts the power bar climbing, the second stops it to determine the power of your swing, and the third should (if you’ve timed it right) stop inside a green area at the bottom that denotes the ball's sweet spot.
A more powerful stroke can be activated by pressing ‘5’ as the club hits the ball, and applying spin is easily performed by pressing a direction once said sphere is sailing towards the flag.

Pressing ‘0’ before shooting brings up the overhead map, allowing for exact positioning of your shot and automatically adjusting the club to suit the situation.

There’s also the option of cycling through the clubs using the ‘*’ and ‘#’ keys should you need an iron to prevent the ball rolling a mile away from the green.

Once on the green, Let’s Golf highlights its ease of play with different coloured arrows moving at speeds that reflect the various bumps and dips, in theory making it easier to gauge the power of the shot and progressing through the four courses on offer.

    Unlock the links

Initially only two courses are unlocked – Fiji and England – with USA and Greece available once you place in the top three (out of four) on not just the 18-hole tournament of a course, but also on the 1-9, 10-18, and 9 hole shuffle variants.

Each location is pleasantly varied in both looks and feel, with England’s courses feeling suspiciously like The Open at St. Andrews (wide, open roughs and some stately looking building in the background), while USA is packed with trees and sharp, bending fairways.

Outside of unlocking courses, Let’s Golf goes out of its way to keep you playing with an upgrade shop to alter your character’s stats along with a huge range of trophies and achievements.

    Eagles dropping the sky

The only issue is these trophies and achievements are fairly easy to get thanks to an extremely generous difficulty curve that barely lifts from over easy during the course of the game.

Putts feel like guided missiles, rarely missing the hole even on the nastiest-looking greens, and the barely-there wind makes driving 350 yard shots onto the green a breeze (sorry).

This shouldn’t be enough to dissuade those looking for a bright, attractive, and easy-to-play golfing title for their mobiles though. Just don’t come wearing your finest multi-coloured sweater with myriad fluffy-topped clubs. You may feel a little left out.

    ENJOY!!!
