wellm i remembered you, and this is why, while reading the guide to flashing, i discovered that we could turn the phone to flash mode with just the help of motorola's tools...

For this you need some good batts, a windows box, and a linux live cd or a linux install... Or a second box, with linux...
I mean use the RSD and plug the phone while running...There is a button called "show device" that is supposed to switch to MBM flash mode (red screen).. I think it can works???

Genblob is a kind of bootloader, but opensource, and it allow to read and write to the flash device (optionaly, as it's main purpose is to allow a bootmenu, and use multiboot, for using... say android, openmoko, qtopia...)
Of course, if there is personnals datas on the phone, don't publish the resulting backup, if you bother...
