I think esixeighty has done a great job. I had just received a package with 50 cables + 1 free. I am distributing them amongst Motorola phone users here in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Cable condition is good, neatly crafted. It's 100% compatible. I've tried it with my iPod earphones, and it works perfect. Also tried it with my Altec Lansing headphones, also works fine. Finally, tried it with my Altec Lansing inMotion 7 speaker-system for iPod, and it's 100% compatible! You don't need to adjust or do the halfway-pull to make both speakers audible.

The best is the combination between E680i + esixeighty's cable + iPod earphones, as it will give you more bass from the iPod earphones.

I highly recommend getting the cable from him, if you are not satisfied with the standard Motorola headset (which I then realised as crappy compared to the cable + iPod earphones). The only downside is, you will miss the microphone, as standard earphones do not usually come with microphone. But that's fine, I've turned the auto-answer function off, anyway.

    Hi there,
is there anything special about this converter? or it is just simply a converter from 2.5mm to 3.5mm so that we can use other normal 3.5mm earphones?
    thanks.

That is exactly what's special about this cable, sebelassebelas. Try googling, you will see that it's not easy to find 2.5 mm -> 3.5 mm around. The ones we have in Jakarta are not 100% compatible. You will need to adjust the plug.

as far as i understand this cable adapts the 4-conductor 2.5 mm jack on the phone to a 3-conductor (stereo) 3.5 mm jack for eaphones, etc. does anyone know of a audio adapter that will bring all three signal lines (left out, right out and mic in) to audio jacks, and is known to work for the e680(i)?

Alternatively, has anyone already figured out which couductor on a 4 conductor 2.5 mm plug would correspond to each line (ground + the three mentioned above)?

i'd just thought i'd ask before i shell out the $30 for a replacement headset and then chop it up....
