Default e680i vs a1200: worth the change?

Hey guys, im thinking about buying the Motorola a1200, but i would like some opinions. I have the e680i. Does anyone know if its worth the change? The a1200 seems almost the same as the e680i, but its smaller, has a protective shell and so on.
Whats the good side and bad side of both phones? Thanks in advance!

its smaller, got protective shell, has a business card reader, has a mega pixel camera, looks way better than brick shaped E680i.....BUT

acctually m thinking on same thing since months. now i've decided to keep both. and thr is just one reason for that. i dont want to lose all the work done, work in progress and support that is available for E680i. cant live without all these modding, apps and games out there. and on A1200, i dont know if all this is possible yet.

Lol. About the same fears i have. Well, im just a newbie with all the modding on e680i, but ive tried a few and it worked.

But i fear im not using my e680i to full potential. Havent even tried to install GBA emulator.

But in fact, my greatest fears are: e680i has 50mb internal memory and a1200 has 8mb. And problem with that? Any difference with the memory allocated (the ezx one)?

    lemem add to your fears

E680i supports SD card (upto 2GB default btu more is possible). E680i also provides u hotswap of card.
but if i know correctly, for an A1200 u need to pull out battery to change mem card and it supports transflash/microSD max to 1G.

    so?

OK, ok, youre not helping much, at least for good points in buying an a1200. lol. The fact of not being able to hotswap cards and that it has a maximum of 1gb is not a big matter for me actually. Never pulled my card off (unless when my phone fell do the floor. Damn!) and 1gb makes for all i need. Well, more always is better, but not a big deal for me.

But would you know anything about my questions of memory? You happen to know if e680i has more memory to execute its programs than a1200? Would a swap script work for a1200?

Since youve got the a1200, you wouldnt mind a few question about it would you? Is it possible to listen to music by the external speakers with the shell closed? Any way to answer a call with speaker mode with the shell closed?

yeah, I heard the 1GB limitation was software imposed
and the e680i is definitely better for games if you're into them (don't forget it was MADE for games).

and just a question, how much do you really NEED or would USE a business card scanner function? I'd be more interested in the voice lock function.

    slevagem: the two are different.

Firstly, there are many programs e680i can use which a1200 can't, because of the buttons.

Secondly, A1200 has problems if u try to accept a file more than 5mb, because usually u'll only have 5mb of free space, and files will go tru the internal memory then to the ext memory card.

Thirdly, because of the micro sd, u might not have 4gb like e680i for a long time

Forthly, there is a program, camcap which you can use up to 1.3mp for the camera. I personally havn't tried it, because I have yet to replace my lost E680i. If anyone wants to buy one for me, go ahead ;D

and lastly, just buy another a1200, keep both phones.

I just went to lucky plaza in Singapore orchard area and found that A1200 is in stores already, selling for 738 without plan and 538 with plan. Tho its not officially out in SG.

hey admin, its not the way in E680i. why?
i mean if i transfer a 450 MB file to SD, it never says i dont have enough internal mem... if thats true abt A1200 then it really SUX.

so admin, if you hadn't lost your e680i would you have gone for the upgrade? which also begs the question if you made the upgrade before or after losing your e680i
and what other added functions does it have? press releases are always so scant on details... (this is just curiousity, I wouldn't be able to afford one for a long long time, it's better to just get the upgrades like bigger memory cards =P )

    Akhaliq: I meant tru bluetooth..

tarwin: I would have waited for the price to go down. I lost my phone a week after A1200 was launched in china. Which was when I bought a 2gb mini SD for my phone as well. A big shame to lose it.

What other functions? not much other than the OCR, which I seldom use.
Other than that, a plus is the camera thats all actually. I can't play GBA with it, what gives? I lose a lot.

    I want an e680i..
