Default E680i Telnet on MacOS X using LeoPPP MPKG

First of all, all credits go to Blackhawk. I'm just making a tutorial. Hope it's useful.

E680i Telnet on MacOS X using LeoPPP MPKG

    What you will get :

    1. Telnet access to E680i via MacOS X in-built Terminal.
    2. Access to E680i files and directories via Finder.

What you need to have :

    1. Motorola E680i (original or reflashed -- mine is reflashed E680).
    2. USB - miniUSB data cable.
    3. Desktop or laptop Mac running MacOS X (I'm using Tiger 10.4.6 on my iBook).
    4. MPKG-Installer installed in your E680i.
    5. LeoPPP MPKG packages ("leoppp_ezxdialog_mpkg.zip" is attached, or download here.

What you need to do :

    1. Download "leoppp_ezxdialog_mpkg.zip". Unzip. Put into E680i.
    2. There are 4 files : "ezxdialog.mtf", "usbppp.mpkg", "btppp.mpkg", and "ppp_stop.mpkg". Install everything. You will get 3 icons : USB PPP, BT PPP, and PPP OFF. USB PPP is to start PPP service via USB, BT PPP is to start PPP service via bluetooth (not tested yet), and PPP OFF is to end PPP service.
    3. Plug your E680i into Mac using the USB cable, as USB MODEM Mode.
    4. Tap 'USB PPP' icon on E680i.
    5. On Mac, go to System Preferences -> Network. Click 'Motorola USB Modem', and click 'Configure ...'
    6. Click 'Modem' tab, and change the modem to "Null Modem 115200".
    7. Click 'Apply Now' button.
    8. Open Internet Connect, click Motorola USB Modem, and click 'Connect' button. You will be connected.
    9. Open 'Terminal' program on Mac. Telnet to 192.168.1.2. Voila! You're in!
    10. Try logging in (login with username : root, and password empty). Try to cd and ls to any directories you like.
    11. Now, to access the directories via Finder. Click Finder, from the menu-bar, click Go -> Connect to Server ... In Server Address field, type 'smb://192.168.1.2/system', and click 'Connect'. Yaaay, you've got Finder window with E680i directories now.
    12. Add the samba connection as favourite by clicking the plus button on the 'Connect to Server' window.
    13. To end, exit Terminal, close the Finder window, click 'Disconnect' button on Internet Connect, unplug E680i, and click 'PPP OFF' icon on E680i.

    Great. So we know :

    1. It's not only for E680i, but also A780. I'm really curious about A1200.
    2. It's not only for Mac PowerPC (PPC) but also for Mac Intel.
