It's possible, I think. I've ordered a BT gps receiver and will have it on tuesday. Will let you know.
GPS on the 680i (possible or not)?
I've been doing some research and skimming through all the forums and I have yet to come across an answer to this question. There are a few threads that have been started but never finished. I'm hoping that someone here has finally figured out a way to get GPS onto our phones, if it is even possible. Perhaps BT GPS Receiver? If you are also one that wants to get GPS on your phone, let's not leave this thread unfinished until we get an answer to this question![]()

awesome. by any chance, can you tell me which GPS receiver you've ordered and which program you're planning on using? (just a heads up)![]()
I just posted a reply in the E680i schematics thread regarding the GPS / aGPS (or lack thereof ) in this handset.

as for the external one, ofcourse it is possible to interface a BT GPS receiver, but how would you interface it to the linux / java based front end? I don't know how to do it.
You can run Opie with the E680i. And there's Roadmap, a program for opie. I can run it, and can browse through maps. I can also bind the bt gps receiver to rfcomm0 and view the nmea data sent. The only thing I'm missing is the link between, which is gpsd. It's used by roadmap to get the information. If someone were to compile it for our phone, that would be great. The source is out there, just look for gpsd.
@chavonbravo
could you give me a copy of your roadmap to me ? i want to try it on my a780. with source code is better . my email : goldenfiredo@tom.com
