oh my gods, that's great news, thanks for the info and hopefully someone can help you![]()
I recently got my hands on both a 4gb SD & MMC card. We've been wondering whether or not the E680i would recognize this, based on the company's listed 2gb limitation. Well, the phone recognized both cards without a problem. However, while the card is in the phone, connecting the phone to a PC is depressing. Every PC I've tried only recognizes the phone device, not the card. If you use a card reader to import your files to the card, then insert the card to the phone, you'll have 4 gigs of whatever you want. Although, it would be nice to have some rockin' new firmware capable of solving this little annoyance. So if anyone's heard anything, I would appreciate some info.

did you tried to connect the e680i with the 4Gb cards over usb to a linux computer(suse 10, fedora core 4 or similar to the kernel 2.6.12 and above) or just on windows 2000/XP?
if that works i will flash my e680 to i -but still affraid to do it.
do you use an original e680i or a flashed e680 ti i one?
what are the SD/MMC card brands?
Motorola e680 (flashed to e680i) + 4Gb SD card + HT820 Stereo BT Hedphones,
Ubuntu 6.10 + 7.04,
Nokia N95 + 8Gb microSD
good point, what's are the brands? since there have been cases of some cards not working/being detected it would be great to know the brands of working 4GB cards =)

well, it doesn't hurt to have more than one card, and smaller sized cards come in handy especially if you use the portable apps. After all, you can't really use the portable apps with the phone if a comp won't recognise the card...
and something I mentioned previously in another thread... Do you think maybe if you partition the card in 2 2GB sections the comp will recognise it? Just a thought...
@wickedcoma
Can the 4GB car be read under USBLAN/TELNET connection???
@y-cyas
Glad to hear that you finally found the reason to flash your E680 to E680i. Hehehe.

if u can use the 4 GB card normally w/ the phone, then just transfer the file over to the SD card by using a SD card reader hub.

... just go buy a ScanDisk. if it doesn't work just return it...
