    Default broke the headphone jack

I really don't know how i did it, but i somehow mannaged to break the headphone jack, not completely, but the sound seems to be mising a channel now (the voices seem to be in the background). the problem is that the copper connector the was attached to the board on the bottom side broke off along with a piece on the inside (i think). is there anything that someone can sugest to fix this, or am i just SOL

hmm.. thats bad.. that cost you min a new 2.5er jack-socket and soldering it to your phone board, or maybe you have to replace the whole board.

NEVER but the phone in a pocket(or bag) when the headphones is connected! otherwise you will get like this above example.

or did you let the phone fall with connectet headphones?
    Motorola e680 (flashed to e680i) + 4Gb SD card + HT820 Stereo BT Hedphones,
    Ubuntu 6.10 + 7.04,
    Nokia N95 + 8Gb microSD

i dont know whwere we can get the smaller 2.5er jack for mobile phones, maybe open an other old phone that has one... asking your friends, electronic- or phone-shops, looking in the internet...

more bad idea, soldering the headphones cable directly to the phones board..

any place that fixes cell phones should have it, the rokr uses a 2.5mm jack right? I'm guessing you could just use that one to make sure it's stereo

Here in Mexico City there's this place downtown with lots of shops for cell phones, you can buy tons of replacement parts for different phones, from batteries, to boards, to casings, to screens. There might be a place like that in your city, if not just try to find a place that fixes phones and see if they can get the piece (they might even be willing to solder it for you if you're scared to do so).

it's possible to redirect the audio to usb port, at least you have this option in the kernel, I never tried it yet.

Can you buy a stereo bluetooth headset like the HT820?
I have never used the stereo bluetooth headset so I am not sure of the sound quality, wearability and style.

There's also a logitech stereo bluetooth headset that they sell for Ipod. I saw a deal for those on http://www.fatwallet.com/t/18/588275
    I have not figured it's compatiblity with motorola's A2DP.. but it's cheaper.

The HT820 would be a better choice though.

yeah, if fixing it is too much of a bother I think an A2DP headset is your best choice. The USB function would require reprogramming, wouldn't it? Plus, can you imagine something similar happening to your usb port as your headphone jack? That would royally screw up many phone functions.
With a bluetooth headset there's no wires and no jacks to worry about, and you also get remote control of realplayer (and depending on the headset can also be used for phone calls), you lose no functionality.
