Default load owner error, unable to read phonebook, full bars.

I don't know if this has happened to anybody else or not, but I'd like some help for it anyway =)

I've been using my e680i for about 6 months and haven't had any problems w/ it. Yesterday, for whatever reason, my phone failed to read my phonebook (which is saved on my sim card). so I figured, hey n.p. I'll just restart it. Well, after that, my text options vanished. I can click on the "envelope" to check/write messages, but nothing opens. After a few seconds my phone says this, "waiting for database..." I've turned my phone off, taken the 'sim' out, restarted, etc. I don't want to master reset if I don't have to. The task manager also says that the system memory is at "48%." It doesn't matter if I have anything running, or if I've just restarted w/ everything closed.

    Anyone have ideas?

And also, I forgot to mention. I can make outgoing calls, I can receive incoming calls, and my browser still functions properly. grrr!

    Try reflashing.

I'm not an experienced user w/ this phone or Linux to begin w/. What exactly is "reflashing?"

For the convenience of everyone to help you here, maybe you can start by logging in as a registered member.
Development of EZX-SysInfo / SysEdit application is completed! Version 0.1 Beta 2 is out. Check out in 'Bounty Projects' forum.

reflashing is changing the programming on your phone. Check the guides and the area for new members for more info. These guides will sometimes seem scary and overly complex but if you follow them step by step while doing it it's not too hard (actually quite simple really).

I have never heard of those problems before so reflashing is my only suggestion as well.

Just make sure to back everything up. You can use motorola's Mobile Phone Tools, the backup application available here (which I've never tried) or the method akhaliq mentions in his guide "Get maximum advantage of E680i(Flashing/Recommended Apps)". mobile phone tools is the worst option since it doesn't backup everything (and it's failed in the past when I've used it) while the other methods restore things to how they were (contacts are in the same category with ringtones and all that.)
And also don't forget to backup any files on your phone's memory like notes, pictures, etc. since none of the backup utilities save those. Don't worry about the preinstalled stuff since you'll get new stuff with the new firmware if you flash the firmware. Ummm, that's all that I can think of to say.

If you have any problems PLEASE read the entire guides since other people have had the same problems before. Also if you fail the first time just trying to flash again sometimes will fix things (for no apperent reason).
And try using the search function. Sometimes it's not very good but it can give you results. There's nothing wrong with asking for help, and people here can be very helpful, but it also gets very tiring seeing new threads for the same questions which various people have asked half a dozen times or more. I am not complaining about your post (in case you misunderstood), just trying to make things easier on everyone

plus, searching through tons of stuff is kind of like an initation here

Try other sim card ... And try to understand what's sysDatabase located on /ezxlocal ... Maybe the problem is with sysDatabase ...

    good luck

I had my SIM card replaced a few days ago, however, that did not solve the problem. I also contacted Motorola to see if they could provide technical support. That also turned void. Apparantly my phone was illegally imported and sold and I don't have a warrenty to worry about as a result. I think I'll be trying the "re-flashing" advice.

This maybe a wild guess and i can be wrong! High chances, your sysDatabase is corrupted! Long long long time ago when i first flash my phone from e680 to e680i, i tried the unknown, i replaced my sysDatabase just like tht! And guess what, i get the same scenerio like yours. I had to flash my phone again. But i guess in your case, you can try Master Reset & Master Clear first.

As for your contact, borrow your friends SIM card and see if you can see the contacts. If do, then probably your SIM card storage is corrupted.
