bash is a command line shell, nano is a text editor. Whether it is useful or not, is entirely personal

these r just add-ons
bash2 enhances the shell experience. nano can be used to edit files on qonsole/telnet within shell.
these r not needed. these r just to enhance the experience and ease of use.
