When I send SMS with more than 160 char to other phones, they don't receive it! Does anybody know why?![]()

My phone automatically splits the messages into two or more when it exceeds 160 characters. Isn't that normal? It will show 165/2 to indicate it's to messages when I look at the character counter.
No. My girlfriend's phone is a V600 and when I send the same sms with my E398, she receive! I really don't know what is happen. It's so weird!Originally Posted by al750n

actually it depends on the phone and the company. Some will send the sms in parts if it exceeds their limit but the receiving phone has to recognise the parts in order to be able to join them, otherwise you get just weird symbols. Some companies (cell phone makers as well as carriers) program their cell phones to send oversized sms as multiple sms'es in order not to exceed the limit and not run into these problems. They normally use 160 characters as that's the "standard" for most carriers (though I actually know of one that allows messages of up to 300 characters). You also have to remember that the message has to be sent using characters recognised by the other cell phone (whenever I used to send sms'es with the following accents áíóú it would become jibberish on some phones, and due to those characters being "special" characters they required extra data and reduced my text message sized to about half).
And sorry hellomoto RJ, that most likely didn't help. IF you become desperate you could always just write the message in parts and send them seperately (as far as I know all carriers charge you for more than one message anyway if it's oversized)
