quad band and edge

so i did some searching on the forums about quad band and edge on the e680i, so far i've not gotten consistent answers. is it possible for either/both to be enabled on the e680i? not a780, not e6/e690, not ming, not any other motolinux, but is it possible for the e680i only. i did the seems edit for the quadband but there was a bit length difference for one of the edit from the e6 instructions. i've never found a workaround for that particular one but everything else worked. when i do the firmware display, it shows quadband but i suspect i've only changed the txt display fro tri-band to quad-band in the firmware only and not actually enabling the quad-band itself due to the bit length difference. anyone has any solid answers? much thanks in advance.

Is Edge working? Else try to activate Edge like A780. I think i can remember that someone tried with e680i and it was successful.

Activate Quad Band like E6 but you need to modify your 0032_0001.seem different. I would say like in E2.
The others seems need to be changed similar.
However i need your 0032seem to say more.

E2 quad band:
SEEM 0032_0001 offset 50 bit 0: (set on)
3A-->3B

Yes you are right. The changes in seem 0171_0001 will only change the text what is displayed.

So the develop spec sheets telling that E680i has hardware support for quad band and edge.

So i would say post your original 0032_0001.seem and i will see what i can do.

length of 0032 in phones:

E6=0200
A780=00FF 0-FE
E680i=00FF dont know realy but think so.

It is realy hard to say without a testing device.
Have you ever checked some seem edits?
And your results was not working Edge or Quad ?

thanks for the tip. tried it and nothing happened, oh well. at least the phone didn't crash. =D another question, do you know how to upload the original ringtones into the phone using p2kman? so i don't have to do the annoying search everytime i want to switch ringtones. thanks.

I think if you change 0340/0341 like E6 or if you change whole seem and not only the importen flex the phone will crash because its not used or has different lenght in E680i. Also its not been set in E2. There is also this rebooting problem it seems that is solved by removing the sim and disable the antenna before seem-edit.

So both quad band and edge not working for you, or only edge ?

another question, do you know how to upload the original ringtones into the phone using p2kman? so i don't have to do the annoying search everytime i want to switch ringtones. thanks.

It's not possible because of different phone structure.
If you want to change the default ringtones you need to edit cg35.
However you can change your ringtone easy when the phone is running in the settings editing the ringtone profile.

- developer spec says hardware support
- some people say no hardware support
- most people who tried the common known seem changes
never succeed the others few seem to be talking to much...

For quad band

- developer spec says hardware support

dont know, you need to test with the efem.
(i bet only text will change no hardware support to activate. Feel free to try and report the tower number )

My conclusion is maybe motorola had some testing boards with the new hardware but never released it under E680x. They gave all the good things the A780. The A780 is very similar from firmware part though hardware not and this quaint dev spec on motodev.
Thats why i thought it could work sorry...
Else please speak up who made something running in the past.

While the site was down there was a discovery that the E6 can have edge enabled. Its the same edit that was used for the E2. Good work for the crew who made the E2 edit a while ago.

So to activate EDGE on ROKR E6 we need:
1. RadioComm 10.3.1 or newer
2. Of course A Rokr E6
3. A basic knowledge of RadioComm.
4. A service provider that has EDGE network

In RadioComm click on the GSM 2 tab directly below it is Stelem/Rdelem box in those box's enter.
