I tried 3 Free instant messenger (IM) for e680i.

Note : (+) is good, (-) Limitation / bad

Here's the review :


E-buddy

eBuddy is a free instant messenger that enables you to chat with your MSN, Yahoo and AIM buddies simultaneously.

(+) Features

* Full Screen
* available in a wide selection of languages.
* Modern cool layout
* Fast response, only need 1-5 second to connect
* Tabbed Chat
* Easy to use, support full touch screen
* Sound & Vibration
* With emoticon
* No need to register

(-) Limitation

* Very Expensive, in Indonesia, charge Rp 100 for connect
* Can't Send offline message
* No Chat room
* Vibration don't work in minimize mode
* Emoticon still limited.
Emoticon could not be placed in the middle of the sentence. Only in First or last.

Apart from all the weaknesses (-), e Buddy is moderate good if you only want to chat without care about necessary feature, especially like chat room, group chat, etc. But, not recommended to use everyday, because is very expensive.

Nimbuzz

Nimbuzz is a FREE instant messenger for your Internet-enabled mobile phones that allows you to take your IM buddies with you -- wherever you go.

Nimbuzz works with all the major messengers, including: Skype, MSN, Google Talk, Yahoo, AIM, Jabber and more (ICQ coming soon).

(+) Features

* Free VoIP calling
* File, Photo and Ringtone sharing
* Very Good layout
* Free Voice Messaging & Free SMS
* "Buzz" notifications
* Group Chat and Chatrooms
* With emoticon
* Support socket data transfer, more cheaper (if compare with e-buddy)

(-) Limitation

* There are no moderator in chatroom, so there are TOO MUCH flooders amd they are so uncontrollable, its so annoying and stressfull. wasting money.
* Can't Send offline message but have "buzz"
* Hard to use, not user friendly
* Not fully support touchscreen. You must use joystick in e680i and press the middle button to chat or to select.
* Lacks of some options like notifications when contacts go online or offline

Apart from all the weaknesses (-), When compared with e- Buddy, nimbuzz is much better, cheap (In Indonesia, only need Rp 20 to connect) and nimbuzz had many feature like : chat room, voip, file & Photo sharing, etc.
Suitable to be used everyday. I gave good rating to nimbuzz

YM Tiny

YMTiny is a free J2ME Yahoo Messenger. Directly connects to the Yahoo's server. Just connect with your Yahoo! ID, no other registration needed.

(+) Features

* Full Screen & Stylus support
* Settable message alerts: sound, vibrate, flash backlight
* "Smart Ping" minimizes bandwidth usage
* Very Fast response, only need 1 second to connect
* Send & Receives offline messages, new mail
* Set status and custom status
* Send and receive BUZZ!!!
* Run in background and auto-restore
* Easy to use
* 54+2 Emoticons!
* Very Cheap, In Indonesia only charge Rp 5 to connect

(-) Limitation

* Emoticons only work on bitmap fonts
* Simple interface
* Sometime can't connect
* No Chat room
* Only Yahoo, no MSN, AIM, etc

When compared with the two Im above, YM Tiny indeed lost far from all the sides.
But YM Tiny is simple. Precisely because simple, chating in YM Tiny very cheap.

As far as I use it, no problem I found, it's just about not accurated in data counting and sometime I have to wait for a while a reply from my friend
