Can't really answer your question. Mine will not charge off the usb connector on my power inverter. Dunno why. I just bought a "genuine" Motorola usb charger off ebay for $15 (including shipping). Works perfect.
I recently purchased an e680i and searched for what kind of car charger I should look for here in the US, which is the razr charger. When I went to the shop to buy one the guy working there had me try it(generic one) and it wouldnt work with my phone but it worked fine with his razr. My phone charges fine with the usb connector and travel charger. Why wouldnt my phone not work with the car charger if they are compatable?

I have the same question about the e680i and using a car type charger. Although the car chargers may work with other phones they do not work with the e680i. Neither does an inverter I puchased that offers a USB port for charging portable electronic devices such as mp3 players, pda, or cell phones. Plugging in the e680i does not appear to activate the phone's charging curcuit and no orange indicator light comes on to tell me the phone is charging. An iPod Nano, iPod Shuffle, and iPaq PDA all appear to be charging from these power sources.
I see that the car chargers I tried, the inverter, and even a AA battery box with USB connector only put out 5 volts at 500mA, the official rated power requirements for USB. The included AC charger for the phone puts out 5 volts at 850 mA. Does anyone have an official car adapter/charger from Motorola and can they post the rated power output given for the device?
