Default html pages not displaying correctly

Hi, (Pls forgive me for being a newb )
Just got the e680i with cingular. I can view wap pages but the html pages don't display correctly. My friend has the e680i on tmobile & html pages display perfectly on his phone. I did a google search for what settings I should be using with cingular and my settings match. Is it because of cingular that I cant view html pages correctly or do I need to use a differnt version of my browser? different settings?
One of the main reasons I bought this phone is because I thought the web pages displayed just like the do on my pc at home. (not like they do on the sidekick) what am I doing wrong???
    These are my settings:
    apn: wap.cingular
    user name: WAP @ CINGULARGPRS.COM
    password:cingular1
    primary gateway ip:66.209.11.61
    port:9201
    secondary gateway:66.209.11.61
    port:9201
    home page:device.home

    It should be like this:
    user name: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM (without spaces)
password: CINGULAR1 (should also be in capitals)

BTW, when you say your friend's e680i web pages are rendering perfectly, are we talking about the SAME web pages? Please find a page that doesn't render well on yours and then ask your friend to open the SAME page with his. If the results are different, then yes, things are getting suspicious. If not, then you should just simply get used to small-screen rendering which is always below par. It's only that much you can do on small screens...

That is the user name and password I am using. And yes the same exact web page views differently on the phone with tmobile then it does on my phone.

Probably because T-Mobile is using a proxy (like the google wap proxy) which pre-renders the pages on the server and makes them one long strip instead of actually serving the exact web page as its web master was intended you to have it.

Speaking as a web developer, I prefer the Cingular way.

for those who use Cingular the correct way to get Opera to work is set your proxy to 0.0.0.0 and port 8080
