    Default Two Java Apps from A1200

    (sorry for the crossposting)

    I want to know if my two main software work with no problems in E680i.

    Does anyone want to test?

    1) QuickNotes App
    Make quick notes and sketches using stylus. You can do simple drawings.
    It is based on pages that can have a title, a category and some other properties. You can search for a page based on category and title.
    All pages automatically register date of creation and last change.
    You can send MMS messages with a page.

    More info and download instructions:

    Note: I don't know how to hack E680i so that it allows file system access to Java applications.

    2) PrivateNumbers
    There is two editions of PrivateNumbers:
    - Mobile Edition
    - Desktop Edition
    You can store contacts and other notes with them. All data are ciphered with AES 128 encryption algorithm and a Password Based Key.

    With Mobile Edition you can also make call and send SMS messages using the numbers in the contacts (remember to erase call history after the call).

    With Desktop Edition you can create many databases (files) each with its own password.

    You can exchange database between Mobile and Desktop Editions - this is a good backup approach

    Hi Clovis, I downloaded quicknotes from the A1200 thread, and have the same problems as naset. The app can capture keystrokes fast, though.

    Hope you or someone can solve this.

    Here's the comment I made in the A1200 thread:

    I installed the app in the E680i, and did the hack, but still the message when I try to export is "File connection API is not available". Is there a way the app can run in my phone? And I cannot find the file of the note created in the midlet directory. What is the name of the file?

    Thank you.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    I am reading the E680i Development Specs now. I know now that

    - Data Network ---> protected
    - SMS, SMS Send, SMS receive ----> protected
    - Dial a Call ----> protected
    - File Connection ----> protected
    This means that only Signed Midlets can use these APIs. To sign a midlet I need to pay, if I pay then it will not be free.

    - Bluetooth API ---> not present. Your device doesn't have this feature in java.

    Conclusion:
    Unless there is a way to hack the phone to allow full (manufacturer) permissions, you will not be able to use these features...and the feature I like most: transfer encrypted contacts between mobile device and desktop computer.

    I will try to search the Forum and Internet if there is some way to do this in E680i.

    I think I found a solution for SMS and Call in the development forum.

    copy attached permfile.txt over /diska/.system/java/DownloadApps/MIDlet00NNN/permfile.txt

    where the NNN in MIDlet00NNN is a directory containg the program's Jar file.

    I don't hava a E680i to test.

    I've also found in the forum that E680i doesn't have File Connection API. So you will not be able to Export pages to a file with Wuicknotes App, unless I create a new version for this device.
    Instead of creating a new version just for E680i, I am thinking in creating a Desktop version. Then the Quicknotes App Mobile will synchronize with Quicknotes App Desktop.

    What do you think?

    I really love quicknote. I have used this app long time ago. Still hope that the export function will work on e680i
