Just like r3my83 said, you probably need to call Fido to ativate their MMS service: it is not always activated by default.
Assuming you did that, here's how to set up your MMS profile:
Step 1: create a connection profile.
Open the "Network" app (the "planet & www" icon, probably located in "settings" on your phone), tap on the "add" icon (bottom right, next to "options") and enter these settings (Note: GPRS only. Settings are case-sensitive):
Profile Name: MMS-FIDO
APN: mms.fido.ca
User Name: fido
Password: fido
Tap on "OK". The connection part is done.
Step 2: set up the MMS gateway.
Tap on the "Mail/Message" icon (top row). Tap on the "Options" icon (bottom right) and select "Service Setup" > "Multimedia Msgs".
Tap on "Default Profile" then on the "Add" icon (bottom right). Enter these settings:
Profile Name: Fido MMS profile
MMSC: http://mms.fido.ca
Network Profile: select "MMS-FIDO" [the connection profile created in step 1)
WAP gateway: 205.151.011.013
[Oddly enough, there is no gateway port]
Tap on "Done". Your are now back in the "MMS Profile List". Tap and hold on your new profile (Fido MMS profile) until a pop-up menu appears. Select "Set as default", then tap on the "Back" icon (bottom left). Voila. Other options are self-explanatory. Use at your own discretion. MMS should now work properly.
If it still doesn't work, try to search for the settings listed above on their webpage, and make sure their associated values are the same.
*Gasp*
The "MMSC" line should have a full http address (ie "mms.fido.ca" but with "http" written in front of it), but goddamn BBCode turned it into a link.
Ho, well, I suppose the phone can cope with it...
did you know there's an option to turn bbcode off?
Yes, but does it run Linux?
thanks alot.. it worked when send locally... but i can't send oversea any idea.. i know the network over there support mms too.. and thanks for your step-by-step guide greatly appreciate!
maxx_730: Yep i knew that, but i turned it off after hitting "preview" and in that case it would mess all my line-break. So i didn't bother. Wasn't a big deal anyway ^_^
turbochargedrs: You're welcome ! And if it doesn't work when you are sending one from home to someone oversea (ie: it is not you who is abroad), it can be due to:
a) your correspondent's MMS settings being incorrect. Get him/her to fix it.
or
b) you not having the right to send MMSs abroad (unlikely but possible, ask your carrier).
If it is you who's calling from abroad, then you might have a roaming problem, in which case there's not much you can do about it i guess.
Hi, anyone know the setting for M1 mms. Mine can't send & rec'd. But can use GPRS for surfing.. Mine is E680 flashed to 680I C5A4p firmware... Anyone got this problem too... pls help.. Thanks.
i tried the settings on the m1 website, but it doesnt work. then i visit 1 of the m1 shop and hand over the phone to a technician and he took abt 5 mins to load the proper gprs and mms settings and all are fine. i suggest going down to any m1 shop. that time, the e680i wasnt even launched yet and mine was flashed, but they didnt complain, just load the settings![]()
