Please don’t misunderstand my question, I know currently theme in SD/diska cannot use USB storage or else it will hang. My question is WHY this happens.
Anyone knows WHY a theme stored in external(diska/SD) will hang when using USB storage? Sometimes it will change to original(default) theme while connecting to PC using USB storage. Hope we can find the reason WHY and solve it.

may, too much sms/mms, other themes, programs.
when i installed the LiteBlue 1.0 theme with 1Mb i have to delete all sms, and also some java games..
i used modem mode with telnet to copy the theme on my SD.
with the fune680 theme with 650kb i had not so much trouble...
maybe i try the mac theme too..
Motorola e680 (flashed to e680i) + 4Gb SD card + HT820 Stereo BT Hedphones,
Ubuntu 6.10 + 7.04,
Nokia N95 + 8Gb microSD
I guess, with applications that have possibilities of retrieving/running files from SD (Real Player, Notepad, File Manager), the phone has some kind of "control system" that prevents the application from running when on USB Storage Mode.
FM Radio has no possibilities of retrieving/running files from SD, so it can still run on USB Storage Mode.
I guess the phone has no "control system" for themes. The phone is designed to activate themes from phone memory. We can "cheat" the phone by placing the theme on SD/diska, but on USB Storage Mode, the phone gives up, and hangs.
I guess if we can change this "behaviour" the problem will be solved. Plus, we can still run Real Player on USB Storage Mode.![]()

maybe only maybe, /diska and /mmc/mmca1 are unmounted in usb mass storage mode??!!
maybe too, in USB storage mode some phone function is disabled right (like apps, etc..) may be one of them is ....
because, when u are accessing a flash disk or a thumb drive, having 2 masters are very difficult.
like if u were to delete something from ur phone and reading the same file with ur computer, it is bound to have fatal error in some way, but because it is linux, therefore no blue screen *pun inrtended*
anyway, the phone restricts the use of the flash drive when u connect using mass storage mode, therfore it hangs.
and since it cannot read the icons in the themes from the flash drive, therefore it has to change to a default theme if not all u see is blanks, which is not very good.
thats why
ya..those r possiblities.......not an easy task....especially for me who is not familiar with this linux phone structure at all.
Just a thought ... about the phone behaviour ... how does the phone know that it's switching to USB Storage Mode? The insertion of USB plug? Doesn't the wall charger have the same plug?

Ok…since it may not read the SD/diska to get the icons during USB connecting, is that possible to make a lin file or whatever(inside ezxlocal?) that will switch to default theme when detecting USB connection and back to the our theme when unplug? It’s like the concept of disable some app during connecting and back to normal when unplug. But but but…we have to figure out how it detect USB and disable app. Gosh…
