no no.. the phone doesn't run on x86 linux.. it's an arm cpu in there!
There will probably be a "distro" available for the phone.. but there's lots to do..
i'm still new to the forum and moding my e680( and the thing bout flashing it to 680i), but if the e680 runs on intel mobile x86, wouldnt it be possible to install an OS( that supports 300mhz), like linux x86 (ZipSlack, or minimal sys), or windows 98 ?or run a 'live distro' that allows 'ram-hdd sharing'? i mean the only thing we'd have to worry bout is creating an installer (since there is no 'boot frm cd'), we would need to create a lin file that formats the 50mb into ext2/3 and install an os over it. isnt it possible?
btw: any shots of the e680i in action, kinda want to flash, the singapore e680 UI and games are boring....

another distro would be possible, but lots of "bios" stuff has to reside inside the phone, like all gsm stuff. i guess that a schematic diagram of the phone would be very helpful. so who's the first to disassemble the phone and create one?
i found the company that created the os for e680: http://www.mvista.com/products/

I'd really like to see if symbian is runnable on e680, natively is great, however an emulator will be better.Originally Posted by blizzardtweaker

I doubt it. There's a lot of work to do on integration between OS and hardware. Among those telephony integration is the most difficult. Not many companies know how to do that with symbian.Originally Posted by andh1ka
