Problem trying to run IM (and other custom installs) on my 680i:

Installed linloader, no problem. Installed the Neo_c package, no problem. I've installed the wvimps.mtf package, along with the qonsole_b and clocker_a packages (powering down the phone after each individual install). These are the only packages I've installed.

At each powerup (before anything else) I select my "startup.lin" file to run. All three icons (IM, clocker and qonsole) are seen in the Tools but when I click on any of those three, I get an hour-glass (busy) for about 1 second, and then nothing else happens... no IM, no clock, no qonsole runs. The Tools menu remains on the touchscreen. I can select other things in the Tools that run just fine (Setup, Camera, the games...). Subsequent clicking on any of those three icons does the same thing... a hour-glass for approx. 1 second, followed by no other response out of the phone. The phone works fine, it just doesn't seem to run the IM, clocker or qonsole programs properly.

My startup.lin file (installed by Neo_c) contains the following text (as shown on my phone's display):
    #! /bin/sh
    cd
    /ezxlocal/download/
    QTDownload/Roote
    xec
    /sbin/start-stop-deaem
    on -S -o -c root:root
    -x ./startup

When I go to the keypad and enter the WWW008W, the following is shown:
    E680I_G_0D.C5.A4P
    BP:
    E680I_G_0D.B0.B1P
    BPFlex:
    GSOE680IT674
    KV006
    DSP: 62282800
    Technology:
<there's more text below "Technology:", but the screen is cut off and you can't read it...>

The hour-glass that I see is an animated image, showing a reddish colored "sand" pouring into the bottom part of the hour-glass.

I have uninstalled the 3 packages individually (IM, clocker and qonsole) and reinstalled them individually. They never show anything but the hour-glass for a second when I click on them.

Any tips on what I can do?

    RE: Problem trying...

One other bit of info regarding the above stated problem:

If I don't run the startup.lin at powerup, and I click on the IM, clocker or qonsole icons in Tools, an error message appears:

"Error: The software you are trying to run is not a Java MIDlet. It will only run on specific phone models that should have been listed in instructions disbributed along with the software. In addition, a neo-installer package must be installed and running on the phone. Sorry."

That's a very nice error message... descriptive and informative. My complements to whoever wrote that!

But I still can't run IM, clocker or qonsole....

    RE: RE: Problem trying...

An additional insight into the above problem (trying to run MrAkai's IM):

I downloaded an IM (Java version V3.1.3) from shapeservices.com. It installed just fine and when I click on the Shape's IM+ icon in the Tools, it comes up just fine. If I leave it running, and then try to start qonsole, a message comes up stating: "Another java application is running, do you want to close it? OK Cancel " The "OK" and "Cancel" are buttons to select.

If I try to run MrAkai's IM (a QT script) I still just get the hourglass for 1 second and then nothing (while the Shape's IM+ is still running).

    RE: RE: RE: Problem trying...

Oh geezz.... I've found PART of my problem.... I re-examined the Neo install instructions and I had failed to copy over the unzip file. <DUH!!>

So, I uninstalled the IM, Clocker, and Qonsole Icons from the Tools and individually re-installed them after doing a PROPER Neo install.

Now, I have Qonsole running and Clocker running, but I STILL am not able to get IM up. Clicking on the IM Icon results in the 1 second hourglass and then nothing else happens. So I'm still hosed as to the QT IM script, but at least I've got the Qonsole and Clocker running now...
