Thread: The ^@ problem

  1. #1

    Default The ^@ problem

I'm not sure if anyone has experienced it yet but since the e680 isnt a t-mobile supported phone, I guess, my "You have new voice messages" popup/alert doesnt work anymore, instead I get a "_@" or "^@" (being it a delta symbol).

I've looked around the web and it says to alter the seem files.. etc.

I was wondering if anyone has encountered this and fixed it themselves. Perhaps you can give me insight into how to solve this problem (btw, you think flashing to 680i would solve it? It's so heavily modded I'm so lazy to make it back to normal >)

    Please help, thanks

I'm on T-Mobile and have the same problem. There is a thread on it here:

Seems edits appear easy to do if you're using Windows. I'm using Linux and haven't found a way of doing it yet, but the various threads around the Internet make me think the seem edit will fix the problem. I'd say try that first if you can.

Yeah, the online tips helped me fix the problem I had, and it works really good on my c5ap4 firmware.

There's p2k app for linux, moto4lin. Look at www.motomodders.net in the app section (forum, not dl), it should be there. I never tried it though, so im not sure whether it has seem downloading option, but i think it does (99.9% sure)

Thanks for the tip maxx. I was able to do the Seem edit and the voicemail indicator works for me now.

For others who may be trying to fix this problem using moto4lin, the step by step is roughly this:

    1. Download, Compile, Execute (http://moto4lin.sourceforge.net/)
    2. Follow the Program Configuration instructions on the website to get the USB IDs.
    3. Connect
    4. Switch to seem editor (make sure you're in P2K mode)
    5. Read seem (the default 0032 0001 is what you want for the VM problem)
    6. Select the 02 offset (Note: The 02 offset is the one in the top row under the _2, not the one on the left side). The default value for me was 88 for this byte.
    7. Check the 1 bit in the bit twiddler.
    8. Write seem (Note: this would occasionally fail for me, but does work)
    9. Disconnect

FYI, I wound up in this thread while trying to fix this problem on the A780. For others that wind up here for hte same reason, the AT mode is 3802, but the p2k mode is 6009 (rather than the intuitive choice, 3801). I spent quite a bit of time wrestling with this. Also, you might want to reboot the phone before firing up moto4lin, as for whatever reason the phone is hyper finicky about going into p2k mode. As always, make sure you're in modem mode and not mass storage mode.
