    Default Caller ID Problem

Strange problem on my E6. When I receive a call, it resolves the name of the person from the Address Book; but when I get an SMS from the same person, it does not resolve the name.

I'm guessing this is because when I receive an SMS, it also prepends the Intl Code to it and my Address book for this person does not contain the code.

I found some info on this website http://www.e2mod.com/content/view/168/29/
    but it did not help.

I also found a file in /usr/setup/ezx_addressbook.cfg but i could not edit it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Scooby

are you sure this is an E6 problem and not a network/service problem, and does it happen with every number or only a few?

I had a similar problem where numbers from international calls would not show and T-Mobile said it was dependant on the originating service.

The only Service problem I can see is that when i receive an SMS it prepends the Intl code even if its local. Local phone calls Caller ID uses only the local no. without the Intl code. So if I save the Contact with the Intl code, the problem is reversed, ie, it resolves the SMS but not the local calls. Theres no problem with Intl calls as they always have the Intl codes, whether its a call or an SMS.

This used to be an issue with some of the older Windows Phones as well.

The only way I can fix the problem is to save the Contact with 2 phones, 1 with the Intl code prepended, and 1 without it. This solution feels kinda s

I had a Nokia 6230i and an n70 before the Rokr but never had this issue. In fact, I put the SIM in my N70 again to verify and there was no problem resolving the name at all.

Here in Kuwait our local nos. are 7 digits, and I think the Rokr tries to resolve the name using 11 digits. You'll find the E2 in the link on my earlier post had the same issue as well.

    Default Not resolved

Hey guys, can any one out there tell me how to edit the file ezx_user/download/appwrite/setup/ezx_addressbook.cfg

It does not allow me to save it at all... i wanna change "NUMBER_MATCH_MINLEN = 11" to 7 to see if it resolves only the 7 digits instead of 11...

    I'm basing this from http://www.e2mod.com/content/view/168/29/

    Hi schubby...
I have your exact same problem...
I just edited the file and then uploaded it again... but I'm afraid it didn't solve our problem...
This is the way I edited the file and uploaded it back...
First you just need to create one text file for each instruction, one to copy from ezx_user/download/appwrite/setup/ezx_addressbook.cfg
to the SD card and another one from te SD to the directotry again...
    i.e: cp ezx_user/download/appwrite/setup/ezx_addressbook.cfg /mmc/mmca1/ezx_addressbook.cfg
and then rename the file to WHATEVER.LIN and then run it using the Loader.. which is a program you can find in this forum...
And then edit it and upladed using the same methid.... but it didn't work I'm afraid..
Let's keep on trying to resolve this if you have any other ideas post them and I'll do the same if I can come up with something my self...
    Regards,
