turn off camera shutter sound?

i just sold my old phone and it was one of the things i really hated about it. to think that my new phone would have the same thing!!!

Yup, sure is possible.

Here is how you go about:

1. Go to the camera icon in the main menu.
2. You click the left corner button and select the option setup.
3. You will get into a screen with "Lighting" as a heading.
4. From here click the a small camera icon on your right side of the screen.
5. The scroll down and there you have the shutter sound -> select silent.

So thats how you disable the camera shutter sound.

hmm yes i've been in there before.
I only have the options of

click
sound 1 - 4
record
and stop
!

i was expecting silent to be in there.
Maybe you are using different firmware? I am using the stock one that came with the phone which i expect is .02p

ya i remember downloading a file when i had the E680i... anyone know how to turn off shutter sound?

I probably suspect that too but then I went to check my firmware which is .02p which you mentioned is similar to yours ? Probably just flash the E6 with the next higher version of the firmware but preferably get the one in your area. Or you could go to a motorola service centre and ask for a software update.

i have 06p and still don't have an option to turn off the shutter sound. only thing i can think of is to Telnet and replace the file that has the sound with a silent recording...idk

I know this doesn't fix the problem but when I needed a silent photo I have bypassed the shutter sound by simply placing a call (ie. voicemail)then taking the picture DURRING the phone call...
