Thread: Sync or Restore E6 with Motorola Phone Tools Help

  1. Unhappy Sync or Restore E6 with Motorola Phone Tools Help

I give up. This used to work, but now all I can get is the message that MPT doesn't recognize the phone I'm using. I need to restore my contact information after a flash upgrade. I've tried a couple different ROMs but I can't find anyway to restore my phone.

I am running Win 7 64 bit, and I have access to Win Vista 64 bit as well. If there is anyone who is able to connect an E6 to either of these systems, can you please provide details of what version of MPT you are using, what version of the USB drivers you are using, and a detailed step-by-step?
Please provide details of where I need to look to make sure everything that should be uninstalled might be hiding, as well.

    Thanks.

To uninstall all components of MPT, go to Run > regedit & search for Motorola Phone Tool files. Delete MPT registries. Do not delete any other regestries except MPT. I too faced problem with XP. Formatting drives & Re-installing OS solved my problem.

So what versions of the software and drivers do you then install to make it work properly?

Also go to Control panel > Add/Remove software. Browse for MPT & uninstall it. Some componets will be there. Go to search option, search MPT files & delete them.

I have 5.05 and 5.07, does it matter which one?
Which version of the E6 drivers should I install? Before or after reinstalling MPT? I'm sure I've had many versions of official and p2k drivers on this machine over time - what should and shouldn't I have?
    Thanks.

I am A1600 user. I used the same version provided with A1600. Its 5.0 Just formatting PC & re-installing OS solved my MPT problem.

No matter how latest is the MPT version provided it should be released after launching E6 (March 2007) If your PC & phone is functioning properly, any MPT released after March 2007 should work.

Ah yes, the big "if" question. I'm having this problem after reflashing my phone. Everything seems to be functioning normally, but I have the question if some flash roms make the phone unrecognizable to mpt.
