main.db Help needed!

Hi everybody, my main.db file has reached its maximum size limit (3500KB) with only 1200 msgs, 150 contacts, 24 calender entries and 5 tasks. i tried to sneak into the main.db through notepad and i found hundreds of old massages which i deleted long ago. Therefore the only choice left with me is to backup my contacts and start with a new main.db file.

What you people think??? is there anyway to either edit main.db or backup only contacts?

PS: MPT failed to restore contacts in my case.

I read about creating and "mount-bind"ing a new main.db file on your memory card. with no space restraints!!!!!!!!!!!
The way must be in the E6 Applications Section

thanks buddy, but i know that trick but after mounting main.db to memory card, we can not use the phone as mass storage, and there are so many complications with this approach.
is there any news about a new version of MPT. mine is 2yrs older version provided with the phone package. may be that's why its not working with my phone. if that also not works then i'd have to manually enter all entries to the phone

ya that'd be a nice option but as i told earlier that the main.db file contains 100s of old messages which i've deleted from the phone months back, and there's no way to delete them.
btw, i've checked the phone's msg capacity few months back and it was around 2200, with 145 contacts and 15 calender entries. what's yours?

Mine just goes only to ~150 messages and around 70 contacts, no calendar event.

the man.db file is designed for 3.5 mb, whatever you do, so mounting to the memory card will not help.

my phone's message capacity is 2200 then how can yours be only 150???
