"rm -vfr"
on console?
I downloaded rockbox straight to the phone (not the memory card)...unzipped it and istalled it...the program did not work, so I uninstalled it...but now, I have been trying to delete the folder and files straight from my phone, but when i press delete, an error message keeps popping saying "delete failed"...so, i hooked up the phone to Motorola Phone Tools, to see if i could delete if through the computer...when i clicked delete, an error message poppe in MPT saying "you can not delete the rockbox file" and "delete cancelled by phone"...next i did a master reset, and still nothing....can anyone help...keep in mind that the folder and files are on the phone not the memory card...thanks

You can try Master Clear too that will also erase all data on your phone...
but if you want to delete only rockbox folder then open console and go to directory where you have rockbox folder and chosee.grm -vfr "Folder_name"
hope this helpscd /
cd ezxlocal/download/mystuff
rm -vfr rockbox
