Question Is there a way to map key to phonebook

I often feel need of opening phonebook without using touchscreen. However I don't see any option to link key to phonebook in "Customize Key" setup. Is there a way to do so?

That's a very good question, but i'm just curious - how do you plan to navigate around your phonebook without using the touchscreen?

Btw, you may notice that even to reach the SMS section or the Main Menu, you need the touchscreen. Cant really map those to the customizable key either.

Yeah....as Motomaster said, can navigate once phonebook is open using the arrow keys, and the dial (green) button. Or by using the volume control keys on left.
Primary usage of mobile is to make or accept phone calls.......should not require touchscreen atleast for that. Sometime back...my touchscreen stopped working......it was like hell till I got it fixed. All i was able to do was to call the numbers from last answered/dialed list and cry to them

The D-Pad? Seriously? Scrolling around 100-200 whatever number of records using the D-Pad?

As for the basic functionality part, i think the touchscreen is a rather basic part of the phone. Too bad motorola didn't think that their touchscreens could screw up.

And for convenience's sake, if your touchscreen goes bad again, you can always use the phone by attaching it to a computer, and using MPT on it. You'll get a photo of the phone and all that, and you can use it to make/receive calls, and read/write sms.

I know it's not a great situation, but i know a friend who has a non working keypad on his nokia, and he's been doing this 'smart' thing for the past 2/3 months!

Well......got another bad experience for why number dialing should be available without touchscreen as well. My friend, who also owns a RokrE6, met with a small accident on bike. He pulled out is phone to call his roommates.....and guess what....touchscreen wasn't working....screwed. Can happen anytime.

    What he did then?
Press Green button -> it opens Recent call list -> Navigate using DPad and see if there is anyone in the recent call list who can be helpful -> call.

But this is really bad. Touchscreen is a sensitive part of mobile. Any touchscreen mobile phone should provide some way to dial from address book or to use Dpad to navigate on the dialing screen for pressing numbers.
