The flash chip has a limited amount of erase cycles before it becomes unflashable.. This is on the order of 50.000 erases. Its safe for most people, but if you make a loop that flashes your phone over and over, then yes, it will damage you phone after some time.
If you use OpenEZX and want to support it, please click on "I USE THIS" on our ohloh project page: https://www.ohloh.net/projects/openezx

jffs permit to write on flash relatively safely because it does a "dispatch" to not write and rewrite everytime in the same place (so datas are not contiguous, but the chip is happy and user don't care ).

This "dispatching" is called "wear levelling", sometimes it's done by the hardware (like on the (micro)SDs ) sometimes not , like on our phne's flash chip.

The problem is that a flash is never always perfect! And a failed bootloader flash certainly brick a phone... This is a thing to keep in mind...

Supposing bootloader and mbm are 1megabyte gig, the whole flash is 64megas, if a flash fail to write for some reasons (cable, windows..., connectors...) then probably you have one chance on 64 to brick the phone. Well, it's very rare and it seems most of "failed" flash are due to firmware incompatibilities, or modder that didn't take care of checksums ...

So telling a flash fail one time each 20 or 40 is probably exagerated, it really fails if you have a buggy windows, or a wrong cable or connector...

And in the E6, there is a bootloader, and a MBM, it's differents softwares.
We need both to boot to flash mode and repair a phone with jtag...

In some case a shop that have a magic rokr box, or something like that, can repair a phone, but not always! Most of the time they use this box for diagnostic or flash i guess... And "repair" by changing the phone's motherboard.

no, only "use it and the RAM softly", like anytime, when your phone is powered.

It depends... there is a lot of differents flash files and what they overwrite depends...Some are 5Meg...others 70....
Differents CGs are Language pack, rootfs, config, bootloader, MBM, ezxlocal, etc...
Ezxcodec will edit the sbf or shx or any flash file and tell you what areas of the phone will be overwriten if you flash it.
