Motorola phone tools is a stupid software and it doesn't work for me (wonder if it works for anyone). And i can't install apps for backup on my phone cuz it has generic firmware (54P). Since i cannot flash my phone without backing up my contacts, i need a software for my pc to do backup. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you

best is copy contacts to Sim card.....
Sim card has very limited space and I have more than 1000 contacts.
In that case it becomes a tough task.

R2, you can directly save the contacts and SMS in your memory card, provide that your firmware supports start up scripts.
copy the main.db from /ezx_user/sysDatabase to you memory card and add this line to your startup script.
mount --bind /mmc/mmca1/main.db /ezx_user/sysDatabase/main.db
to see the files in phone memory use XPTOOLS or MYStuff.
You can use the 'search' option in the page for getting these files from E6 Forum
my firmware doesn't support start up scripts. So if i backup main.db using xptools is it possible to restore my contacts the same way after flashing ? This will be my last question. Thank you very much in advance.
It supports e6 .I use the same.Sounds strange. In fact it comes preloaded with .22p f/w.
