When using MPT, always close the application and wait for 1-2 minutes, to switch the phone from Modem mode to USB Mass Storage Mode.

If you directly unplug the phone it will not switch and next time you might get this error, "Mobile not connected" and you'll have to re-detect the phone.

    Also, MPT v5 supports e6.

    1. It could possibly be a problem with the USB port of the computer or the phone. Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer or try connecting to a different computer.

    2. Is the phone recognized in other modes (say, mass storage?)

    3. If so, plug in mass storage and start MPT, see if tries to convert it to modem.

The current phone in your User CP is asking for your phone model, not phone number

Download latest Motorola USB Driver I think 4.6 is the latest
uninstall old motorola USB driver and restart and install the latest driver and try again
    Motorola A1200 : Beast
    Motorola MOTOROKR E6/E6e : GoldenBird/Bricked
    Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 : Stock ROM (Gingerbread 2.3.6) - ROOTED

Navi, did you get any resolution?
My phone works fine in camera and storage mode, but it never detects properly in MPT. Often it gives me the "your phone is unsupported" message at startup. Other times it starts right up, but fails in any attempts to read or write to the phone. BUT, it knows it has an E6 connected, and it can read my phone number from the phone.
