    Question [Query] Regarding EDGE

    Hi folks,

I have successfully installed the Alpha Quad Band & EDGE script on my Rokr E6 and I get the E signal instead of the G one earlier.
However, I haven't observed any significant difference in the surfing speed. If I connect using MPT or manually, the connection still shows as 115.2 kbps { LAN connection }.

Can I know what are the speeds expected via GPRS and EDGE on Rokr E6? I know it depends on the service provider but still if we could have a standard it would be great.
Also, it would be nice if we could have some pragmatic values viz. the values one found before surfing through GPRS and after surfing through EDGE.

Lets follow the naming convention as:
    kbps{kilobits per second} or KBps{kilo bytes per second}.
This would make it easier for other people to comprehend too.

    Thanks,

EDGE ain't fast at all in my opinion. I can give you my values through my observations from my various phones. GPRS on my E398 reached usually an average maximum download speed of 8-9 KB/s. My now dead V3x (3G phone) reached an average of around 30-40 KB/s. My A1200 with EDGE enabled reaches about 16-18 KB/s while downloading. I never really used the A1200 with GPRS as I think I enabled EDGE the day after I got the phone.

I am pretty much fine with those speeds, however, the speeds I receive through GPRS/EDGE is just 1-2 KB/ps.
I would be really happy if the speeds on my phone reach 16-18KB/ps. Currently, the speed is so slow that I can't even open normal websites forget the heavy ones, not even this website

Is there anything more needed? I use an Airtel GPRS connection at Bangalore, India.

I don't know what you could do. Your speeds are probably operator related. I'm in South Africa and here all the operators are around the same with regards to speed, although I've only ever supported MTN over here, so I can't motivate my opinion.

It's working just about fine these days, though.

I just made a speed check on Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test and it gave me a download speed of 131 kbps and upload of 26 kbps.

    I am happy over all.
