E6's touchscreen got dead :(

my rokr e6's touchscreen got totally dead .. nothing works !! ive taken it to the moto service center and they said the parts (digitizer) for it are unavailable and will come @ jan 09... wtf ? what am i supposed to do now with it ?

HEHEHEHE, "Not available" usually means THEY don't have any... you can get the correct part HERE

@fb009 how long have you had ur E6 for when ur touchscreen went dead. Cause I had mine for about 7month and would like to know when u started having problems with the touchscreen so I can be prepared and time when im getting my new phone. thx in advance

hey viper89, my e6 lasted around 1.5 year. after much survey, i figured a symptom before it went dead. well, on the screen you may see a spot kinda like watery spot but it does not harm at that time ... what it does actually create a gap between your screen and digitizer and you'd find your screen dead within a month. im saying this because this thing has happened twice on two e6 and led to the same consequences. but maybe there could be other factors but i found it common. so, you better watch out that water spot cuz i didn't care abt it much until i found the same problem with another guy after it went dead .. fate you know ! ..

I think this goes on a case by case basis. I bought my E6 USED over a year and half ago, and the touchscreen still works just fine. I dont know how long it was used by the person who owned it before me.

thx guys ur info really helps. I think im going to get the Nokia 5800 xpress music its cheap compared to the rest of the nokia phones which are like $650 plus and symbian is open source platform and there are tons of apps for it.

Same thing happened to me.. I found a small patch on the upper part of screen which slowly spread and bang! one day touchscreen stopped working tho display was OK...
My E6 was 1 1/2 yrs old..

Took it to the nearest MotoZone in Chennai - they changed the digitizer in less than 1/2 an hour - cost Rs.1350/- + Rs.250 labour - 3 months warranty...

my screen is getting death... grrr.... i will take it to service and i'll tell them that they check connecting screen with phone...
what do you think - could uneven plastic cover of the screen be the cause of the problem
