afraid to install any pkg files....

i have purchased the Rokr E6 recently, and wanted to install some cool stuff.....
what i want to ask is that by installing mpkg installer will harm my phone in any way and if it will, does the 1 year warranty still applies on my phone or the company will not responsible for any software damage.....

The pkg apps all reside in the memory card, so you could just pul out your mem card if moto service centre has a problem with you installing apps on your phone
the only way that you "could lose" your warranty is by screwing up while installing a theme and then flashing it incomplete, note that these are 2 errors which rarely occur together

There is nothing to be afraid of, if you install the apps on the memory card, if something doesnt work right, it will just be on the memory card, no damage to the phone.

Im not sure about the warranty.
What firmware are you running, if its a stock .10p you wont be able to install mpkg apps anyway without flashing to a different firmware, and as far as i know, that WILL void the warranty.

In my opinion, I say screw the 1 year warranty, I used my E6 longer than that, and I installed and uninstalled TONS of pkg apps, and I froze the phone countless times. I flashed it at least 50 times, trying out all the new firmwares, and even through all that, it still worked just fine.

I would rather have fun with the phone, and get the great apps, and skins that I love, than worry about a warranty.

The warranty won't be void by just re-flashing. If you reflash it and it's still working, your warranty is okay.
Althought if you brick the phone while flashing, the warranty will be void.

@puppetshow: That is not true. Flashing will void your warranty if the service center guys can realize that it has been flashed. For a simple example, they know that phones sold in a particular area from x month to y month came with a certain f/w. By typing that WW00.. thing, they can know the current firmware. They put up a disclaimer that warranty will be void if "system level software changes are made"

Also, some monster packs come with apps that weren't included in any stock f/w's. They see these apps on the phone, which they can't uninstall, then it's kaput again.

i bought e6 some 5 months ago when the sellers didn't used to give warrenty for motorola.(now they have 1yr warrenty system). so i was nevr afraid to mess with my fone and nothing wrong has happened.
so dun be afraid.go for it.
