mayb it is a SDHC card and 4 gb sdhc card doesnt work on e6
So I went out and bought a Sandisk card reader, and I'm able to format, read, and write to my 4gb Transcend SD card. Thing is, everytime I put it in my E6, i get an error prompting me to format, and once it's formatted, the f/w starts freezing when tapping the memory card.
I'm using DaGr8's modded 07p f/w, and my card is definately not an SDHC.
Formatting in my computer and in the phone doesn't fix the issue, so I'm wondering if this could be a bug in the firmware. I did a lot of searching and found a few people with similar problems, but none of the solutions worked for me.
Any suggestions? Does anyone else run a similar setup, and if so, how did you get around this bug?
I'm positive it's not SDHC, because I even checked the model number to be sure.
So everytime I format thru the phone, it names the memory card some odd charater, and makes the f/w glitch, and only shows 3.x mb storage. I even switched to generic 09p firmware, just to make sure it wasn't the modded f/w that was causing the glitch. I also tried the dos cmd format to make sure it was formatted to fat16, but still no dice.
This is just really irritating, because I made sure to purchase the particular type of SD card that was said to be compatable, but for some reason, mine isn't. Is it possible I just have a bad card? It does read/write via card reader with windows xp, so it (in theory) should also be capable of reading with the e6.
I'm thinking it does have something to do with the f/w, so I'm not going to return the card just yet.
I've been reading/writing to the card just fine using my pc and card reader, but when I insert the card into my E6, it always says "memory card unformatted, format now?"
This is even when I format to fat16 using the dos cmd prompt.
Oh well, I'm gonna go pick up a 2gb card today, as a backup, untill I can find out more about my 4gb card issue.
Did you do a quick format in the phone? Thats the only way I got mine to work
so long and thanks for all the fish
Yes, I tried to quick format too, and it just renamed my card gibberish characters, and showed 3.4mb on it, even though when put in my card reader it still shows all data on it.
This is really weird, and I'm beginning to think I just got a faulty card, unless anyone else has any idea what's going on here.
i'm preatty sure that the sd card has no problem.
the same thing happens with hard disks and old computers. if you try to mount a 100gb hard disk on an old 1995 motherboard you'll be surprised to see that there will be recognized just around 20gb.
anyway in the specs, e6 is not suposed to support 4gb sd cards so for some of us might work and for some of us might not work.

Ahh, I see. I had a feeling it had something to do with that, being different file system types. It's just kinda odd that it works for some, and not for others....and then others that don't succeed with their first card but do later.
I'll probably try another 4gb card, if I can find one cheap enough.....but my 2gb will suffice in the meantime.
